Halloween Special w/Alex of FatBossTV - #13

Hello and welcome to the 13th Episode of Final Boss! We have a slightly different show format in store for you Mobs and Minions, but it is no less entertaining than our previous! Today our Hosts get all costumed up – Much to Ana’s surprise! – and chat with Alex from Fat Boss.  Loz unfortunately couldn’t make it, but Alex more than made up for it.

Alex first talks about what’s been going on in his life.  He and his brother are just now finishing up what they call Guide Season; the time of the expansion where they race to push out both normal and heroic guides for all the 10 man encounters.  Outside of that, he plays League.  A LOT of League.

With an off-the-beaten-path turn, Alex talks about when he started playing video games, what his first console was, what his first MMO was, and how much his brothers impacted what he played growing up.  Ana and Bay chime in with their first MMO experiences as well.

Getting back on track, Alex recounts the tale of how he got started in WoW (older brother strikes again!) and how he nearly stopped playing for good.  (Thanks, Beth’tilac!)  Fortunately for the rest of us, he picked it back up again.

Alex finally answers… “Why Fat Boss?”  You won’t believe where the name came from!  The show then goes into how Fat Boss started and what exactly Alex did that made him realize that he should make guides for 10 man heroics.  It definitely wasn’t smooth sailing from the start and it took them a while to find their style.  And of course, we had to ask about the 60-second Guides.  If you have never watched them, you definitely should!

Finalizing the show, Alex talks about what he and Loz learned about the system with creating videos for Youtube and how to get into becoming a content creator.

P.S. Corgis!

Pandas, Mists & Shadowy Apparitions - Episode 11

Shadow Priests? Shadow Priests. Episode 11 of Final Boss TV is all about our favorite Shadowy Apparitions.  Drye from <WHATEVER WERE AWESOME> and Twintop from <Slash Hug> join our Hosts Bay and Ana for an episode filled with all things Shadow Priests… And Twintop’s Frostmourne.

Ever wonder what your favorite Shadow Priest theorycrafters do to pull it all off? Drye discusses his 30-something BiS combinations with his personal spreadsheet (yikes!) and the rollercoaster of nerfs, buffs and bugs. Twintop built himself a monster computer for the sole purpose of running simulations to get all of you the information you need to melt face with ease. Let’s not forget the time commitment involved with such time-sensitive material, either.  Stat squish, please!

Drye and Twintop are asked to review the history of Shadow Priests.  When did they become a viable raid asset? When was their DPS good? What changes were had to make them better?  Drye steals the question and goes from Vanilla to present day.  What better person to answer? He’s been playing a Shadow Priest the entire time!  Twintop follows up with what’s good and bad about Shadow Priests in Mists, and Drye goes on a rant about being held back by Shadow Orbs.

Pro-Tip: Obtain Tito from the Raiding with Leashes II achievement and he will whip up a whirlwind with killable cow critters that you can use to build orbs out of combat.

The Meat and Potatoes part of the show covers a wide array of topics.  These include Talent interactions, how single target damage is, what the “sweet spot” is for multidotting adds, how to handle AE encounters, Best in Slot lists (with a TON of math talk), and what Addons you should be utilizing to maximize your DPS. Twintop has some crazy weak auras with his setup.

We finish off the show with some community questions and find out Drye doesn’t have a second monitor. Does he realize what century we’re in yet?

Tune in next week for Mistweavers OR Windwalkers. What we choose depends on your Youtube comments, so let us know!

The World First Victors Episode 10

Final Boss has an incredible show today for all you World First raiding junkies.  The GM and Raid Leader of <Method>, Sco and Rogerbrown, join Bay and Ana today to provide a fascinating insight to their World (of Warcraft).

On one hand we have the EU and US progression, and on the other we have the Asian progression. Sco and Roger talk a little bit about how this impacts their own progression, especially in regards to releasing kill videos early as Stars did for their Garrosh kill.  Is it time to open up communication to the Asian guilds to avoid future controversy?

Next on the plate is an open sandbox question where our guests explore the ups and downs of Mists of Pandaria raiding.  During which they talk about gating in T14, the ease or difficulty of raid bosses, how much of a difference having item level upgrades made, whether or not alts were used, what kind of roadblocks and bugs they encountered, and what their favorite fights were.  Not to give anything away, but Sco definitely fired some shots about the competition with his favored fight.

Finally, what does it take to run Method and just what goes into making this guild the top guild in the world?  Sco and Roger discuss officers, raid leaders, the amazing and dedicated players, and the few players that go above and beyond just playing well.  It’s easy to see why Method is such a strong team of players capable of sweeping an entire expansion.

Also, don’t miss Sco tell Roger’s back-story of when he originally joined Method and got kicked.  Yes, Roger, their now-raid leader, almost wasn’t part of Method at all.
